I guess I really like surreal images, particularly landscapes (anything with a nice sense of deep space) I like this image because the technique ( a long exposure at night) it tells a story to me. The house looks like it has stood up against the tests of time (even though it is decayed) it looks like it hasnt changed from that state in a long time compared to rapid movement of the clouds in the sky.

the light is what really makes this image more unique and  interesting. it doesnt look like natural light, which creates a surreal contrast between the forrest. the ground and light look like a creepy urban alleyway, while the trees look soft and beautiful. I also like the crispness of the image, there is alot of detail in the leaves of the trees, this is also a nice juxtaposition against the soft and hazy atmoshpere ancompassing the light. I dont think picture would have worked as well if it were any other color, its very out of the ordinary.

I love the expressions of the people in this image, its gives it and interesting narrative (narrative about the relationship between the two people as well as revealing something about their own individual identity).

I love the focus of this image, its very dramatic, the color are nnot too distracting either. you can really feel the tension in the image, and the out of focus background gives it intrigue, and also reflects veiwpoint of the subject (they are struggling and probably disoriented)

Jawsome

I guess I cant believe that someone caught this moment, its a great capture considering the spontaneity of the image.
I really like old looking photographs, I like the perspective and the balance between black and whites, I like the diffusion of light and the spontaneous nature of the image.

this is a darkroom image, I like the eeriness of this image. the grianiness and the strange light make add to the mysteriousness of the figure.

abstract form

this is a photograph of condensed water that has been manipulated, digitally (?), to the point of abstraction. I like this photograph because it doesn't even look like a photo, it looks more like a watercolor image, the color and form are very plaesing, the forms have a sense of movement to them.

surreal hands

the colors in this image are very beautiful, I like how they used water to refract light, they were able to make a surreal looking image without any digital manipulation

life and death

when I first saw this image, I thought it was the carcass of a bird potisitoned and scanned. It is actually a photograph of the bird in mid-flight. by using a fast shutter speed he froze the bird in time creating a stillness more referent of death than flight. the shadows and highlights on the bird are very visually stunning, however, it looks a bit obvious that he darkened out the rest of the image surrounding the bird. it is a very flat black (which is why I originally thought this was made with a scanner not a camera)

Alter Ego

I came across this photo whileI was looking for inspiration for our Alter Ego project. The quality of the image is lacking, but I like it conceptually; The firgures are curiously placed, the "Ego" hovers over the figure in an awkwardly ominous manner, while the "self" figure is half-conscious of its presence.

the cropping of this photograph is mainly what makes this an interesting photograph. The veiwer is given just enough information to be intrigued. I think the image seems a little over exposed though. but I enjoy the natural lighting, the extreme verticality of the cropping also adds to the dynamism of the image.

Benoit Paille

This is a very dramatic image, in both it's lighting and the subject matter. The figure has alot of emotion but because he is placed in an odd way, the image still has alot of humor to it.
